The festival is presenting two very special programs and guests this year, who are together also involved in collaborative projects: Vladislav Delay as Artist in Focus, and Lillevan Pobjoy as Artist in Residence. Both artists will have an extensive stay in Belgrade, not just performing but working on special commissions for the festival, and presenting brand new projects.
After Robert Henke (Monolake) as our first Artist in Focus in 2007, this year we are preparing an even more extensive presentation of a single artist at Dis-patch, which will at the same time be the most intense presence of Sasu Ripatti at a single event to date. This program series focuses on exceptional artists who have already left a significant mark on the scene of contemporary (electronic) music, and are active in several solo projects and collaborations which go far beyond a single genre. The audience has a chance to witness the transformations and variations of the author's output and performances from day to day, his solo or collaborative concerts encompassing different approaches and styles - a unique chance to see several different live formations, as well as special and exclusive projects.
Finally, Vladislav Delay's focus program is well-timed: 2009 has been an extremely busy year for Ripatti, with a new Vladislav Delay album Tummaa released on Leaf Label, Moritz von Oswald Trio debut on Honest Jons as well as Agf/Delay's Symptoms on Bpitch Control, alongside numerous festival appearances and special performances, which received heavy media attention and critical acclaim.
Delay's Focus program will see him performing as many as five times over the course of the event in different projects (Vladislav Delay with Lillevan, Agf/Delay, Uusitalo, Kinovida and Vladislav Delay Quartet, featuring Lucio Capece, MIka Vainio of Pan Sonic and Derek Shirley), as well as presenting the premiere string of his first sound art project: The Only Copy 01 - Belgrade. Furthermore, as part of this special stay in Belgrade, Delay's new Quartet formation will be recording their debut album in the vintage studios of Radio Belgrade!
After many years of presenting the global scene to the Belgrade audience, Dis-patch is proud to be providing the context for new, exciting works and music to occur and evolve.
