The panel will deal with the topic of transformation of the listener's perception within the perspective of new channels and mediums of distribution of music. Many panels at recent festivals have dealt with the influence of Internet onto the future of the music industry, but here we would like to focus no on the industry, but the other end of the line - the receiver, the listener, the music fan.
Within the context of easy download access to any piece of music, is it only music that matters today, stripped down from its visual framework of artwork and artifact into a pure listening experience? Are we gaining or loosing something along the way? The panel is using the Vladislav Delay project The Only Copy (presented at the festival in the form of an installation) as its starting point, which offers another possible context for music to live, unfold and reach its followers, at the same time posing a question if that future is possible at all.

Dis-patch is teaming up with the festival of Internet creativity Webfest, the first regional event for promoting the use of Internet technologies and showcasing the best web projects around. The festival will be held between Nov 1st and 26th in Belgrade, and the program we are co-presenting is, inevitably, dealing with the web aspects of music sharing, distribution and development. We will be presenting some of the leading projects in this field from the UK, USA and Serbia, followed by a panel discussion with all participants.
Being held on the closing day of Dis-patch, the program will also offer our official afterparty at the club Batler (Francuska 12), with Last FM DJs, the appearance of Billy Jean Collection (FR) with a special MJ tribute set, as well as others!
